The RES hangar can be erected, disassembled and removed easily, if required. Each hangar is constructed of a number of steel fabricated components together with uniquely designed aluminum roof and leg sections, that bolt together to form the span trusses. The leg sections connect to the roof sections and are securely anchored to footplates at 4m centers. When assembled, Insulated PVC fabric sheets slides between the aluminum extrusions of adjacent spans to form the shelter.

The most recent hangars supplied to the front line are complete with an internal 2000kg gantry crane system. The crane system has been designed for helping the users of the hangars with their daily maintenance procedures for the aircraft in the field.

The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP)In June of 2009, Rubb Building Systems was awarded a contract with CH2M-WG LLC to provide a variety of structures for the The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP).

The ICP involves the safe, environmental cleanup of the Idaho National Laboratory site, which was contaminated with waste generated from World War II-era conventional weapons testing, government-owned research and defense reactors, laboratory research, and defense missions at other U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites.

The 7-year, $2.9 billion cleanup project, funded through the DOE’s Office of Environmental Management, focuses equally on reducing risks to workers, the public, and the environment and on protecting the Snake River Plain Aquifer, the sole drinking water source for more than 300,000 residents of eastern Idaho.

PVC Measuring and Cutting Machine

October 29th, 2009 by Rubb

This machine is specially made for Rubb Hall AS and allows very efficient measuring out of fabric length. When the length has been set by the operator the machine automatically pulls the required length from the roll and the operator then pushes a button for semi-automatic cutting of the fabric. This means we only need one operator for fabric measuring and cutting while before we needed two. Rubb Hall AS always strives to innovate to keep costs to our customers as low as possible.

The above pictured 20m x 42m NV-type building is owned by Aker Solutions and located on Stord, an island south of Bergen, Norway. This building dates back to the 1980s and Rubb Hall AS recently changed the fabric on the building that was well over 20 years old. The galvanized framework was in excellent condition so it was a simple task to replace the fabric in a few days.

Life expectancy of the fabric on a Rubb building is comparable to the life of a conventionally roofed building, and the cost to replace fabric on a building is competitive with the costs to re-roof a building. The life expectancy of the galvanized frame is significantly longer; as in this case, after 20 years the frame will typically show little to no damage and be expected to last for decades longer.

Aker Solutions AS is one of Norway’s largest offshore/oil platform related yards. They manufacture some of the largest oil platforms in the North Sea and are presently finalizing the building of two very large deep sea oil platforms. These platforms are specially made to tolerate severe weather conditions in areas like the Barents Sea and can also operate on extreme depths. Aker have had Rubb Buildings for over 30 years and Rubb Hall AS is continuously re-covering some of the older Rubb structures.
