Portable Shelters, Temporary Structures
The Portable Rubb Shelter Range Offers a Simple Way to Enclose Space
Most standard range Rubb shelter products are available from inventory or on short lead times. Shelter spans up to 40ft can be supplied to any length in standard modules of 10ft. THA and THB shelters come standard with an integral base angle foundation that can be affixed to natural ground, asphalt, concrete or other surfaces using a variety of anchoring methods. Rubb shelters are lightweight and pack efficiently for shipping. These shelters offer a durable hot dip galvanized steel frame and complete hardware and sealing materials. They are quickly assembled with a minimum of tools and equipment.
Standard shelters are available from stock
Rubb shelters are designed for temporary and intermediate term use but are not designed to the strict building code standards of our building range. Rubb shelters have been proven in extensive field use and factory destruction testing and are found all over the world. These portable shelters can be supplied with a variety of door options and come standard with gable vents. Optional lifting kits can be supplied which enable the structures to be lifted by crane in erected form. When strict compliance with building code requirements for snow and wind load is not required, Rubb shelters provide a practical, durable and cost effective solution for a variety of covered space requirements.
Rubb Shelters are designed to function as temporary structures. They offer excellent utility and strength but are not engineered for code compliance. They are simple to install, disassemble and relocate.
The workhorse of our shelter line is the THA. The THA is a patented design which consists of galvanized steel tubes that sleeve together and are quickly fastened with pins to form structural arches. The arches are connected with purlins that attach to the arches with integral spring loaded pin connections. The entire shelter affixes to a hot-dip galvanized base angle foundation frame that is anchored to the ground with simple hold-down methods.
Rubb offers several ranges of shelters which are normally available from stock or on short lead times. Shelters are available in widths from 6 ft. to 50 ft. by any length in modules of 10 ft. Design variations between shelter types with respect to connection methods and the standard parts are detailed in our technical specification literature. Common to all models is easy, fast erection by small crews without the need for heavy lift equipment. Smaller shelters do not usually require any mechanical lifting tackle, but a forklift truck with man-carrying platform is ideal for erecting larger shelters.
Comparison to Similar Products
Many companies make all types of claims regarding the features of their respective products. However, there is no substitute for basic material strength and quality. Rubb's THA shelters' pin-together "scissors" truss utilizes 3-inch and 3 1/2-inch diameter high strength steel tubing for the main members. Compare this to the thin gauge smaller diameter tubes that are used by others.
We also use top quality PVC-coated polyester cladding materials that cost up to eight times as much as materials used by some competitors. Rubb's THA is an industrial quality structure that is built to last.
The Strength of Rubb Shelters
Rubb's portable shelters are designed to endure harsh weather; and they will actually withstand higher loadings than code-based calculations would predict. However, we make no claims concerning load capability other than to provide destructive test results obtained from factory tests. Rubb's philosophy is that a load-capability claim that is not supported by solid engineering calculation and facts is worse than no claim at all.
