The Rubb/SMG team completed a major indoor sports facility in Portland, Maine. Sportsplex Management Group (SMG) is a Maine owned and operated company specializing in the design and promotion of indoor sports facilities. The Portland Sports facility was ordered in June of 2003 and teams were playing soccer five months later. In addition to the regulation sized playing fields, the 178' clear span by 251' long facility houses a sports pub, indoor batting cages, locker rooms, function areas and spectator seating for up to 500. The Portland Sports Center is also the new home for the Frozen Ropes Baseball and Softball Training Operation. When the facility is not being used for soccer, field hockey, baseball, ultimate Frisbee and other sports it can be used for events such as camping and boat shows, food and wine expos and various automobile and motor sports shows. The clear span and high translucent roof together with a clean, flat turf floor provide a facility with endless possibilities.

Additional Features:
This hybrid building combines the proven engineering of a Rubb building with top of the line turf from FieldTurf and custom designed lighting from Musco Sports Lighting to provide a playing experience that is unmatched. The advantage of this building is that it does not require the participants to modify the sport to fit the space. It allows for a year round playing area that feels like the outdoors but with-out the negative aspects of bad weather, sun exposure and excessive heat/cold.
