Door panels are mounted external to the structure and are suspended from a top track. Bottom of door is restrained by guide wheels.

6-panel steel-clad door system is supported by embedded rails at the bottom, and guide beams at the top. The left and right door halves are each motor-controlled and cabled so each trio of panels open and close simultaneously. There is a steel rollup door that the top center of the hangar door to fit the aircraft tail into the building.

This tall fabric-clad panel door has four panels that part to the sides. It is suspended from rails at the top and the bottom is held in place with rollers mounted to the concrete floor. The tall, thin door panels are mounted to the outside face of the building and do not extend past the sides.

Intermarine - Savannah, Georgia

Door Type: Fabric stacking panel door
Door Size: 50' x 72'

This door consists of five individual panels that slide between two vertical guide beams. The panels are lifted in and out with a crane, and include fittings so they can be stacked atop one another when removed. Ladders are built onto the face of the doors so the doors can be latched together when in place.

Northrup Grumman - Newport News, Virginia

Door Type: Variable Orifice Zipper Door
Door Size: 36' x 44'

These fabric doors consist of eleven fabric wedges that are zippered together. The zipper seams are oriented so that a submarine hull can protrude through the building and the doors can be sealed around the hull at varying diameters.
