Environmental Policy - Rubb Building Systems
1) Position Statement
The Rubb Group recognizes that our operations and actions inevitably have an effect on the local, regional and global environment. We are committed to reducing this impact by implementation of effective and coordinated management controls and continuous improvement in our processes and product designs.
2) Strategy and Plan of Action
Our goal as an organization will be to foster an environment where employees, suppliers and customers are committed to long term improvement in environmental performance.
Our main focus will be to reduce energy consumption and to improve efficiency in our manufacturing plants.
We will consider the environmental impact of our products at all stages of their life cycle from design, to manufacturing, to customer use and finally to recycling or disposal.
3) Principles
- a) Senior management sets the tone and establishes accountability for environmental performance and for establishing and maintaining an effective system of management, measurement and improvement of company environmental objectives.
- b) We will meet or exceed all relevant environmental regulations.
- c) Our business will always be conducted with due regard to the environment and environmental considerations will be taken into account in all major business decisions.
- d) Business operations will be regularly assessed for compliance and for performance and achievement of our goals.
- e) Employees and suppliers will be encouraged to work in an environmentally responsible and responsive manner and this will be a condition of their continued work for the company.
- f) Customers will be made aware of efforts to reduce our impact on the environment and environmental management will be a topic at the annual meeting of the company.
4) Resources
- a) Our goal will be to reduce the use of energy through awareness programs; design, equipment and facility improvements; travel and transport initiatives and other working practices.
- b) We will reduce the use of materials through better design and good working practice.
- c) We will reduce, re-use or recycle solid waste whenever economically and environmentally sensible to do so. When these options are not available we will dispose of waste in a manner which is environmentally responsible.
- d) We will favor supplies derived from recycled materials or renewable resources.
- e) We will restrict the use of hazardous substances. Where the use of such substances is unavoidable we will train staff to properly handle and dispose of them.
- f) We will reduce as much as reasonably possible the level of harmful or undesirable emissions and we will take appropriate precautions to prevent contamination of water and sewer systems. And we will develop contingency plans to address incidents which may occur in order to insure a minimal environmental impact.
- g) We will maintain positive and productive relationships with our neighbors and the communities in which we work or have an impact.
5) Training
We will implement our environmental policies through clearly stated guidelines and suitable training of staff. This policy will be disseminated to employees through group meetings, posters and specific training sessions where the commitment to sound environmental practices will be strongly encouraged.
